Los Angeles, CA — The Foundation for Asian American Visibility, a non-partisan, student-led and community-based non-profit organization, is excited to announce that we are launching a comprehensive series of community-geared advocacy initiatives centered around advancing Asian American visibility, sharing Asian American stories and creating educational opportunities.

The Foundation is pleased to expand our current “Asian American Stories of Resilience” project, where members of our team conduct virtual and in-person interviews with Asian Americans of all backgrounds who wish to share their stories of resilience. We encourage community members of all walks of life to sign up to be interviewed in a language of their choice by completing an online form at www.asianamericanvisibility.org/stories-of-resilience-interviews.

Secondly, the Foundation is inaugurating a nationwide essay contest focused on the two prompts: “What is Asian America?” and “I Am Asian America,” encouraging students to write about Asian American identity and their personal experiences. A panel of distinguished Asian American community leaders will adjudicate all submissions, and selected winners in three age groups will win cash prizes. We welcome participation from students aged 8 to 19; all essays should be submitted to an online form at www.asianamericanvisibility.org/youth-essay-contest by August 25, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

Additionally, the Foundation is hosting several virtual guest speaker events this summer with community leaders, who will join us to discuss their lifelong work in advocating for Asian American visibility and impart their wisdom with our audience. Further information will be shared regarding this initiative in the weeks ahead, and we invite interested individuals to express their interest in being a guest speaker by completing an online form at www.asianamericanvisibility.org/guest-speaker-events.

The Foundation plans to launch several more initiatives in June and July 2023; information relating to those endeavors is forthcoming and will be shared as soon as they are available.

“We are thrilled to share all the hard work we have dedicated to building these important projects and laying the groundwork for them to succeed,” shared Brandon Cheng, Founder and Executive Director. “We are honored to advance the visibility of Asian Americans and create an America where all Americans of Asian descent can enjoy the blessings of American liberty.”

The Foundation welcomes input and involvement from members of the public; please visit www.asianamericanvisibility.org to learn more about different opportunities to become involved in our work.
